WANTED

for Vandalism at the MoMa

In February of 1974, an Iranian Artist named Tony Shafrazi entered the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and spray painted "Kill Lies All" in red across Pablo Picasso's Guernica. As he did this he yelled: "I am an artist!". Shafrazi claimed that he committed this despicable act against the Spanish genius' masterpiece as a protest against the U.S. action in MyLai. The vandal was arrested, charged with criminal mischief, and released on $1000 bail. The painting was coated with a protective varnish and looked as good as new after the cleaning. Shafrazi now owns an art gallery which is located at 544 W. 26th St. in Manhattan.
