The Art and Antiques Unit of London's Metropolitan Police Department has been renamed the Art and Antiques Intelligence Focus Desk. This unit has a history that commands respect among the world's law enforcement community and has had several honored investigators, the list of which includes Richard Ellis (currently of Trace), Charles Hill (currently of Art Risk), Tony Russell and Jim Hill (both currently of Art
Recovery LTD).

This focus desk is responsible for the collation and dissemination of intelligence pertaining to art crime. The team runs a large Stolen London Art Database and targets sophisticated, top tier art criminals.

The detectives in the focus desk are trained to investigate offenses involving art, collectibles and cultural property. The team works closely with art crimes units throughout the world to combat the illicit trade in stolen art and cultural property.
